Dallas buyers club is a real story between 1980 and 1990, when AIDS was outbreaking, without any effective medicine to treat. At that time the drugs were under investigation, patients couldn't get access the drugs until the FDA (the authority) apporved the medicine. The death was around them, many patients tried some illegal methods to retrieve the drugs-smuggling and stealing, they just didn't want to die, desperately.  Matthew McConaughey(as Ron, a cowboy, who found the buyer club) and Jared Leto(as Rayon, a transgender woman, who help Ron in the story) in the film won the Academy Award for Best Actor and for Best Supporting Actor respectively.

Legislators and educators called on the government to make English the nation’s second language, with recommendations to allocate money from the Cabinet’s Forward-looking Infrastructure Development Plan to achieve the objective.

Taiwan has to improve its English-language proficiency because it is the common language of international trade and commerce, and on a regional level it could facilitate the nation’s drive to forge partnerships with Southeast Asian countries under the government’s “new southbound policy,” Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Legislator Liu Shih-fang (劉世芳) said at public hearing on Friday, promoting the use of English throughout the nation’s private and public sectors.

The proposal for English to be included in the Ministry of Culture’s “national language development bill,” is to be taken into consideration along with a focus on promoting Hoklo (commonly known as Taiwanese), Hakka and Aboriginal languages, the ministry said.

Are Romantic Movies Really Ideal Love Stories?

Everyone enjoys a good love story, don’t they?

They may not be the highest-grossing movies of all time, but romantic movies can elicit some strong emotional responses when done right. Watching passion overcome adversity, seeing two people connect on a profound level, witnessing a giant ship sinking in icy waters. The heartstrings tremble, they also seem to set up impossible romantic ideals for us mere mortals to live up to.

With the potential relationship pitfalls that come from movie expectations, I got to thinking… are romantic movies really the best love stories?
